Overview
Leading the Way is a free 6-week virtual 
program for women and gender-oppressed base-building organizers, who have at least 2 years of organizing experience, to:

  • Develop organizing and resilience skills for the sake of powerful organizing under the conditions of racial capitalism and cisheteropatriarchy

  • Build relationships with other gender-oppressed organizers, 

  • Reflect on the challenges and possibilities of gender in relationship to organizing

  • Share and develop tools for navigating gender-based oppression in organizing and 

  • Celebrate what is and can be made possible in organizing and movements

 

This will be an intimate group with no more than 12 participants. Participants will meet once per week and will attend two of the Organizing Center’s public workshops during the program.

Qualifications​

Passionate about organizing for social justice and currently working as an organizer

  • At least 2 years of organizing experience

  • Desire to build relationships with and learn from other organizers across the gender spectrum

  • Value personal and group accountability

  • Openness to sharing your experiences as an organizer

  • Ability to work with individuals from diverse socio-economic backgrounds, gender identities and sexual orientations

  • Ability to attend at least 5 out of 6 cohort meetings

After applications have been reviewed, qualifying candidates will be invited to an interview the week of July 17th. Applicants will be notified about their acceptance to the cohort no later than July 30, 2023.
