OUR IMPACT

We work with organizers from all over the country, supporting them to develop and strengthen their base building skills and resilience practices. Take a look below at where we've worked, what we've accomplished, and what people have to say about working with us

DON'T JUST TAKE OUR WORD FOR IT

WORKSHOP PARTICIPANTS

I feel welcomed to be vulnerable and freely express the struggles I have without judgment. The content I learned is definitely something I'll use and keep in mind for years to come!

I was an organizer for a long time and it took me years to come to some of the lessons you shared. I wish I’d had a resource like you all to turn to for time-tested, practical organizing wisdom. You truly are filling a gap in the ecosystem.

I have been to a lot of organizing trainings but I’ve never been to one like this before. This space was so intentional, grounding and purposeful. We both practiced enough that I was able to improve my skills, and learned practices that will support my resilience.

This workshop was very transformative and empowering. I came in with asks that gradually became easier to overcome with the practice sessions and the helpful video on what a successful organizing conversation looks like. I thought it was very real to address the challenges that usually come up. I feel inspired about upcoming conversations.

This training gave me new perspectives on how to become a better leader/organizer as well as how to support my members and move them further into becoming active organizers as well. It was also a very welcoming and comforting space, and I appreciate all of the knowledge shared.

This workshop took some of the biggest problems we face as organizers and distilled it into a training that was clear and usable. So many of the conflicts we face are grounded in a lack of clarity around a few basic questions. Identifying these and clear tools and strategies for how we answer will be a crucial step in building more conflict resilient coalitions!

COHORT PARTICIPANTS

We have one organizer who ran a whole canvassing program this summer. Before the fellowship she would have pushed back on even participating in something like that. She’s showing strong, confident leadership.

I started organizing at 57, three years ago. This cohort allowed me to express the things I did not know and my curiosity in a way that never embarrassed me and actually welcomed my experience level in a way that nurtured my soul. I would absolutely recommend this program to new and experienced organizers!

This cohort was engaging, interactive and just over all dope. The instructors were so kind, knowledgeable and supportive, fostering an environment where everyone felt encouraged to participate and share their ideas. I feel like I really am taking away a lot from this training.”

WHAT WE'VE MADE POSSIBLE

Our work has impacted base building organizations' abilities to bring new members in, develop their leadership, develop campaigns that contest for power and navigate challenging coalition dynamics. Find out more below:

Philly Black Worker Project

Philly Black Worker Project

We committed staff time to support the start up phase of PBWP resulting in a deeper grounding in organizing practices. Additionally PBWP staff participated in our organizer fellowship program which connected them to other organizations who they now work in closer partnership with.

National Domestic Workers' Alliance-PA Chapter

One of NDWA-PA's staff members joined our 2023 Training Cohort learning facilitation and how to teach organizing skills. This helped them enhance their member training programs. They now run their leadership development program OLA (Organizing Leadership Action), which successfully develops the organizing skills of their members. They have since hired members as staff organizers.

Phila.Coalition for Affordable Communities

Our staff have supported the development of policy campaigns for this coalition that have resulted in them winning hundreds of millions of dollars for deeply affordable rental housing for low-income households.

Lahaina Strong

Lahaina Strong

After the Maui wildfires, we partnered with Hui Aloha Aina and Lahaina Strong to run a campaign strategy training. At that training Lahaina Strong developed a winning campaign strategy that led to a critical victory: a moratorium on Airbnbs until all displaced residents in the area are rehoused. This achievement reflects the power of community-driven organizing and strategic planning.
